Arranging a Funeral ~ First Steps

Bringing your loved one into our care

At J E Hackett & Sons we will arrange for the person who has died to be bought into our care. If the death as taken place at home we can collect as soon as the doctor or paramedics have certified the death. If the death is unexpected we may need to take the deceased into the care of the Coroner to ascertain the cause of death. If the death has occurred in hospital we will have to wait for the death to be registered and any documentation to be completed before we can collect and bring into our care.

You can contact us 24 hours a day 365 days of the year, where our experienced staff are available to assist and help you.

Initially we will need to ask some personal details about the deceased, and the person who will be taking responsibility for the funeral arrangements.

Meeting the Funeral Director

The next step is for your Funeral Director to arrange a suitable time to visit you one of our offices in Coventry or Bedworth, or, if you prefer, they will make an appointment to visit you, in the comfort of your own home.

The Funeral Director will be able to guide you every step of the way.

Visiting the deceased

Many people who have suffered a bereavement find comfort spending time with the deceased. Relatives and friends often wish to visit the deceased and pay their last respects before the day of the funeral. Our peaceful and tranquil chapels of rest are available for visiting during normal office hours or by appointment at weekends and evenings. You may wish the deceased to come home for family and friends to pay their last respects prior to the funeral.

Our funeral services line is 24/7
