Church of England Funeral

Although you will be sad because a loved one has died, a Church of England funeral is a message of hope in life after death.

You can arrange a Church of England funeral to be as personal as you would like - choosing hymns, readings and the words spoken.

We can arrange for you to speak to the churches vicar directly, so you can arrange the details beforehand. Or if you would prefer, our funeral directors will communicate your wishes to the church.

A Church of England funeral can also be held at a crematorium or woodland burial. Like a church funeral, you can choose every element, so you have the funeral you want for the deceased.

If you would like a Church of England funeral for a loved one, please talk to our dedicated funeral team who will be able to help further.

Catholic Funeral

The Catholic faith is based on the passing from the physical world to the afterlife, where the person who has died soul will live in Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory.

We can arrange a Catholic funeral mass for you and ensure the religious and personal elements are what you expect.

Commonly there are three aspects involved in a Catholic funeral - a vigil or wake, a mass, and the burial.

Hindu Funeral

Hinduism teaches that God is within each being and object in the universe and also transcends every being and object.

A Hindu funeral will always be an open casket and conducted by a priest and the eldest son of the deceased. A number of rituals may take place around the deceased:

  • A lamp is placed by the head of the body
  • Prayers and hymns are sung
  • Pindas (rice balls) are placed in the coffin
  • Water is sprinkled on the body
  • A mala (necklace of wooden beads) is put around the dead person’s neck.
  • Garlands of flowers may also be added.

Hindus are cremated as they believe it helps their soul escape quickly from the body. After, the ashes are usually scattered on water.

Muslim Funeral

The Muslim faith tells the good deeds done in life will give entry into Paradise on the Day of Judgment or the Last Day, when the world will be destroyed and until that day the dead will remain in their tombs.

According to Islamic law, the body should be buried as soon as possible from the time of death, which means that funeral planning begins immediately.

In all funerals, the body is buried, preceded by a simple ritual involving bathing and shrouding the body, followed by a prayer (salah).
